I’m taking a brief step away from education topics this week to summarize my week in pictures. There is rarely a week that passes that isn’t noteworthy, and this past week was certainly no exception. From proud parent moments to proud daughter moments, here is my week at a glance:
Proud Parent
On Friday, Emmett officially signed on with Kruse Concrete Construction. He has committed to working for his brother, Elton. To say Friday’s signing was a proud parent event is an understatement. Wow! The event was organized by Fort Madison High School staff and held in the media center. Those students who are committing to working in the trades were recognized by both the high school and their future employers. What an amazing tradition!

In addition to this big event, Emmett attended his senior prom as a King Candidate, and was appropriately matched with his classmate and longtime friend, Camille Kruse (no relation) as a Queen Candidate. I’m still trying to figure out how these two attended their senior prom when they were just hanging out at birthday parties yesterday?!

Proud Sibling
I couldn’t be more proud to be a sibling to these three amazing humans. Katie Dailey, Jenny Steffensmeier, and Ross Haeger are the best! After organizing a fairly simple birthday party for Mom, we enjoyed a bike ride and lunch together Saturday afternoon.

Proud Daughter
We ended the week celebrating Mom’s 77th birthday. Mom continues to amaze us. She downplays her cancer diagnosis, maintains her positive spirit, and lives life to its fullest doing what she enjoys most: spending time with family and friends. She is the least judgmental person I know, always rooting for the underdog and dismissing gossip. “Half of what you see and none of what your hear,” is a frequent refrain of mom’s. Sue Haeger epitomizes the quotes that end today’s blogpost.

Nice!
I love this for so many reasons!
So much for you to be proud of – you amazing human being Megan Kruse!!
